David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister, spoke to the Free Churchmen in London and said that churches needed to work together to prevent war, “making it impossible for humanity again to pass through the fire, torment, cruelty, horror and squalor of war”.

The French Government said that they believed German monarchists were intending to kill Raymond Poincaré, the French Prime Minister, with additional measures being taken to protect his life.

Irish Free State forces launched a successful combined land and sea attack on the rebels’ headquarters in the west of Ireland.
