The British soldier Lance-Corporal GA Emery was murdered outside College Green in Dublin after being shot by two assailants who were able to flee, with another soldier being seriously injured.

James Green, formerly in the Royal Irish Constabulary, and his son, a former constable in the Black and Tans, were murdered at their home at Coote Hall in County Roscommon.

The Model School, an educational establishment based on Falls Road in Belfast, was destroyed by fire following an arson attack.
