HM Queen Elizabeth II (pictured) and the Duke of Edinburgh travelled to France to be greeted by French President Georges Pompidou, with the visit intended to mark the growing closeness of European countries.

The TUC said that it was asking its 140 affiliated unions to launch a campaign to cut overtime, work shorter hours and have longer holidays in a bid to cut unemployment.
