23 April 1922

Michael Collins was blocked from speaking in Killarney in Ireland by a group of armed men who threatened him with rifles and bayonets. Attempts were also made to block the train that Collins was travelling in from Dublin by placing a goods train on the track, but it was noticed in advance and removed.

The strike of engineering workers worsened, with 600,000 men idle in addition to the 250,000 members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU) who were already on strike.
