French troops in Gleiwitz (now Gliwice) were attacked by a party of Germans with bombs, with the Inter-Allied Commission declaring a state of siege.
A general strike began on the German railways, although the Government immediately announced it as an illegal strike.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle told a meeting in Edinburgh that he had experienced numerous psychic incidents which explained what happened in the other world.
