Four new Peerages were confirmed in the New Year’s Honour List, including Sir James Buchanan (1849-1935), Sir Robert Nivison (1849-1930), Joseph Watson (1873-1922) and Francis Willey (1841-1929).

A serious riot broke out in Punjab with 44 people being injured, including four men who lost their lives. The British authorities said that they were sending military reinforcements from Delhi and Alwar.

Hasrat Mohani, a nationalist leader in India, called for total independence for the country with a United States of India. He was speaking at the All-India Muslim League meeting which was also attended by Mahatma Gandhi.
