Robert Browne, the Bishop of Cloyne, recommended that people should support the Irish Treaty and go out to express their acceptance of it.

The Prince of Wales was warmly welcomed in Calcutta (now Kolkata), but there was a protest strike held which had some degree of success. The press reported that there was a growing movement which supported more self-governance in the country and also the possibility of complete independence.
