Éamon de Valera returned to Dublin and announced to a large crowd at the Mansion House that “if people acted in the future as during the last two years, they would not have to talk about freedom, they would already have it”.

The press reported that German soldiers had attacked the French military in Oppeln (now Opole in Poland) who were forced to hand over their weapons.
