David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister, met at the Board of Trade with coal-mine owners and coal miners in an attempt to reach agreement to end the ongoing national strike that was taking place. The Prime Minister said that similar meetings would take place on future days and there would also be private meetings held with those involved with the strike.

James Craig, the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, said on the announcement of election results in the province that “we are still in the Empire and there we will remain”.
