It was confirmed that the British Cabinet had met for three hours to discuss the potential financial collapse of a major company, which was named at the time as Rolls Royce. The Government said in a statement that it wasn’t prepared to issue any further comment on the matter.
The threat of a strike at the British Rail diminished following the announcement by the British Railways Board that a pay offer would be announced later on in the month.
