The Ulster Unionist Party said that Sir James Craig MP had agreed to be the party’s first leader in the Northern Ireland Parliament, as long as his election was unanimous.

The Health Ministry confirmed that the death rate in England and Wales was the lowest ever, with the birth rate now being the highest of the decade.

A train crash in Abermule led to the deaths of 17 people, with 36 people being injured when two trains hit each other head on. One of those killed in the incident was Herbert Lionel Henry Vane-Tempest, who was one of the directors of the Cambrian Railway.
