An improved offer from the Government to help settle the ongoing national Royal Mail was rejected by the Union of Postal Workers (logo image above).

Arthur Lewis, the Labour MP for West Ham North, called for the book “The Anarchist’s Cookbook” to be banned in the UK. The book, which was later renounced by its author William Powell, gave instructions on how to make a bomb.

A riot took place on the Shankill Road in Belfast which involved a group of 300 to 400 people stoning buses and cars, as well as breaking into shops and smashing their windows.
