Charlton Athletic have welcomed 2,000 fans to their Valley Stadium, one of the first clubs to see supporters returning to a football ground. It’s the first large scale return of fans for 266 days, with Wycombe and Carlisle also hosting football supporters. Tier 1 areas will be allowed to host 4,000 fans, Tier 2 areas will be allowed to host 2,000 fans, but Tier 3 areas will not be able to take part in the trial.
Thomas Sandgaard, the owner of Charlton Athletic, said:
“Hopefully this will be a stepping stone in allowing us to get more fans back into the stadium”.
The club will be taking the temperatures of all fans, enforcing the wearing of masks in the stadium, maintaining social distancing and fans will be following a one-way system.
