Suella Fernandes, the new Brexit Minister, said in an interview with Conservative Home June 2017 that a no Brexit deal would be “great for us” although she also stated that she doesn’t want such an outcome. Her comments, re-posted by Sky News today, have caused some concern in the Conservative Party over the Prime Minister’s plans for the future EU negotiations.
She also said in an article published on her web-site:
“Whatever the outcome of the negotiations, I and the Government are determined to make the most of the opportunities that leaving the EU presents. We are a global nation and we will be making new trade deals with countries from around the world. I believe that the Government needs the flexibility to leave without a deal, if such a deal is not in our best interest”.
