Angela Eagle Drops Out of Labour Leadership Contest

Angela Eagle has confirmed that she is to withdraw from the Labour leadership contest. The two remaining candidates are the current leader, Jeremy Corbyn, and Owen Smith.

Sources close to Angela Eagle said that Smith had obtained the support of more MPs and MEPs and so it was felt that he had the best chance of being able to beat Jeremy Corbyn. Labour Party members will now have the opportunity to choose whether to keep Corbyn or select a new leader.
