EU Leaders States that Access to Single Market Requires Freedom of Movement

Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission, has repeated that access to the single market requires freedom of movement. The confirmation, which was backed up by Germany and France, is a knock back to Vote Leave campaigners who said that Brexit would allow a compromise on these measures.

Juncker said that freedom of movement was required “without exception” after being asked whether the UK could receive a different level of treatment to other EU nations.
