House Prices Increase Slightly in April

House prices have increased slightly by 0.2% in April over the previous month. The increase is one of the lowest in recent months but it is thought that there was a rush to buy properties early in 2016 to avoid increased stamp duty which was introduced on 1 April 2016.

Figures from the Nationwide Building Society said that the average house price was now £202,436, having gone through the £200,000 barrier in the previous month. Figures also showed that house prices have risen by 4.9% over the last year.
