Three Women Vying to Contest Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough for Labour
There are three women who are vying to become the Labour candidate for the by-election to be held in Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough. The by-election is taking place following the death of the Labour MP Harry Harpham.
The three candidates are:
Gill Furniss – the wife of the late Harry Harpham.
Jayne Dunn – local council member for housing.
Jayne Lim – a local junior doctor.
The seat was won at the 2015 General Election by Harry Harpham with a majority of 13,807 over second placed UKIP. It was the first time that Harpham had won at a General Election and he died at the age of 61.
The Liberal Democrats have already selected a candidate, Shaffaq Mohammed.
