Tory Council in North Norfolk Criticised After Voting for a 23% Pay Rise

Tom FitzPatrick, the Conservative Leader of North Norfolk District Council, has been criticised after his councillors voted for a 23% increase in their allowances to around £5,000 per person.

Andrew Wells, the leader of the Liberal Democrats on the council commented that staff at the council hadn’t had a large pay rise, saying:

“If there has been no significant increase in staff pay, then we shouldn’t have one either”.
