Petition to ban Donald Trump from UK tops over 400,000

A petition to ban Donald Trump from the UK has reached over 400,000 signatures and will now be debated in the House of Commons. The petition follows comments made by Trump, a Republican Presidential hopeful in the USA, that Muslims should be banned from the country “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on”.

The text of the petition at states:

“The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. The same principles should apply to everyone who wishes to enter the UK.

If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the ‘unacceptable behaviour’ criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful”.

Trump has also cancelled a planned trip to Israel following the controversy and added that he will only return to the country when he is the President of the United States.
