Jeremy Corbyn, the Leader of the Opposition, has said that Labour will vote as a party on the issue of any future British involvement in Syrian air strikes.
When asked whether he would consider allowing a free vote on the issue Corbyn replied:
“No, we would have to consider it as a party, consider it as a group and decide how we would react at that point, I can’t predict at this stage”.
Michael Fallon, the Defence Secretary, said that the Government felt that air strikes might be necessary to protect the country and said:
“It is up to every MP to make up their minds and to consider how illogical it is for the RAF to be striking at Iraq but are not yet able to strike Isil in Syria”.
