Andrew Mitchell says that Government should tweak tax credit system

Andrew Mitchell, a former Government Minister, has said that George Osborne, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, is likely to modify his proposed changes to the tax credits system. Speaking on BBC’s Sunday Politics he said:

“We’ve got some time before it comes in so that we can tweak it if necessary but I think it is the right reform to make and overall we can make sure there are as few losers from this as possible”.

John McDonnell, the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, has said that Labour would reverse the changes.
