The Military Governor decided that following an ambush and attack on police in Midleton, Ireland, that numerous houses nearby would be pulled down as the residents must have been aware of the plans.

The German Government confirmed that the country’s army had been reduced to 96,000 men and 4,000 officers to meet the requirements of the Peace Treaty. 50,000 pieces of ordnance, 5 million rifles and 60,000 machine guns had been reported to have been destroyed, whilst all of the Zeppelins, 14,000 aeroplanes and 26,000 aeroplane engines had either been destroyed or handed over to the allies.
