Professor Neil Ferguson has resigned from his role as a Government adviser after the Daily Telegraph reported that he had been snubbing the Government’s own advice. After Ferguson’s actions were revealed by the newspaper, he resigned and said that he “had made an error of judgement”. Ferguson accepted the revelations made by the newspaper, that he had welcomed a female into his house in contravention of health advice, and he is not expected to have any further role in advising the Government.
Ferguson added on his actions:
“I deeply regret any undermining of the clear messages around the continued need for social distancing”.
A spokesperson for the Government confirmed the resignation but said that they had no further comment on Ferguson.
