Jhoots Pharmacy Referred to Competition and Markets Authority for Price Gouging

Liam Byrne, the Labour MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill, has referred Jhoots Pharmacy to the Competition and Markets Authority for price gouging. An outlet of the chain at 6 Ermington Crescent in Hodge Hill, Birmingham, sharply increased prices of medicines.

Byrne posted on Twitter a copy of his complaint:

The chain apologised and said that there had been “an erroneous pricing communication”.

Byrne though was sent, via a whistleblower, a copy of an internal e-mail, which the MP reposted on social media:

Byrne said that he had asked for an investigation to begin into the behaviour of the company’s directors.
