Reported by Guido Fawkes blog, Diane Abbott, the Shadow Health Secretary, has been criticised for wasting Government resources with a question which the department couldn’t answer. The average cost of a written Parliamentary question is £164.

Abbott put down the below written question on 24 June 2016:

“To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what steps she has taken to assist people in the Indonesian province of Province of Davao del Norte affected by the drought in that province”.

Justine Greening, the Secretary of State for International Development, replied:

“There is no province called Davao del Norte in Indonesia”.
